Things to do in Leeds
Theres alot to see and do in Leeds no matter what tastes for culture and history you have. One thing that most people are probably un-aware of is the very rich history that the city has all the way from when the Romans first called it Leodis when they invaded. One favourite attraction for both locals and tourists is the Leeds city art Gallery which showcases both historic and contemporary art from around the world but with specific emphasis on Leeds and the history of the county. One of the great things about this art gallery and something that is true of all publicly owned galleries and museums in UK, is that admission is free. This has to be my top money saving tip if you are coming to Leeds for a Holiday or Vacation, because if you can combine a cheap hotel with free and discount activities you could be in line for a very affordable holiday that anyone can enjoy.

The Millenium Square may look like a historic piece of architecture but as the name suggests its actually quite new. It was opened in the year 2000 by none other than Nelson Mandela and has proved popular with all kinds of visitors to the city. One great aspect about this space is how it is used all year round. During the middle of winter an outdoor ice-rink is constructed and is open to people of all ages but is a firm favourite with children who visit. In the summer months if there are any major sporting events taking place they are shown on a large screen and large crowds can gather to watch and enjoy (or commiserate on many occasions) the match.
Book off peak in Leeds for great deals
Its important to think about the dates you want to book your holiday on very carefully. Many people don’t realise just how big the price gap between off peak and busy times can be. For example nearly everyone knows that hotels in Leeds and other major cities become more expensive when the school holidays are in full flow. However you might not know that the day of the week that you book also has a big impact on the final price of your room. Booking on a Sunday to Wednesday for example could be as much as 40% cheaper than at the start of the weekend. Since most people can book off whatever dates they want from their employer it makes sense to take on board this saving if you can.
Another advantage of booking at off peak times is that many of the main attractions in Leeds will be much less crowded and you will find it easier to get off peak discounts. As always you should always have a look around hotel reception for any new or discounted events that may be taking place during your stay. Remember to ask staff at the hotel also as they will often have local knowledge about the city and should have a good idea on the best things to see and do.
